What is Substantive Change?
Substantive change refers to significant modifications to an institution's mission, programs, operations, or other factors that may affect its compliance with accreditation standards. Institutions must notify the Commission and receive approval before implementing certain changes.
Types of Substantive Change
🏛️ New Locations
Opening new campuses, branch locations, or instructional sites
📚 New Programs
Adding new degree or certificate programs at different levels
💻 Distance Education
Initiating or expanding distance or online learning programs
🤝 Partnerships
Entering into collaborative arrangements or consortia
⚠️ Important Note
Institutions must submit substantive change requests BEFORE implementing changes. Failure to do so may result in adverse accreditation action.
